Plagiarism Police
Plagiarism Policy
The Asian Journal of Muslim Philanthropy and Citizen Engagement upholds a strict zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism. When plagiarism is identified in any article submitted to this journal, the following actions (penalties) will be applied. Plagiarism refers to the use or close imitation of another author’s language, ideas, or expressions and presenting them as one’s own original work. All submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Any material taken verbatim from another source must be clearly distinguished from the author’s own text by: 1) proper indentation, 2) the use of quotation marks, and 3) appropriate citation of the source. Any text beyond fair-use limits, or any reproduced graphic material from another source, must include written permission from the copyright holder and, if applicable, the original author(s). All reused materials must be fully acknowledged, including references to prior publications.
All manuscripts submitted to the Asian Journal of Muslim Philanthropy and Citizen Engagement will undergo a similarity check using Turnitin. If plagiarism is detected, the Managing Editor responsible for the manuscript will determine the appropriate response based on the level of similarity, following the guidelines below:
-
Similarity Index Above 40%
The article is rejected due to excessive similarity, improper citation, or poor paraphrasing. Resubmission is not permitted. -
Similarity Index 40–20%
The article is returned to the author for revision. The author must correct all citations and paraphrase all similarities appropriately, even when citations are present. -
Similarity Index Below 20%
The article may be accepted, although citation improvements may still be required. The author must ensure proper citation for all externally sourced material.
For cases falling under categories 2 and 3, authors must thoroughly revise the manuscript, include all necessary citations, and paraphrase sourced material appropriately. The revised article must then be resubmitted along with an updated Turnitin report demonstrating a similarity score below 20% and confirming the absence of plagiarism.
